Suspected car thief arrested on busy highway

BEAVERTON, OR (KPTV) -

A local man accused of stealing a car and leading police on a chase is facing charges.

Washington County Deputies arrested Steven Brooks Thursday afternoon after he allegedly stole a car from the Sunset Transit Center, they said.

The theft happened at 1:20 in the afternoon. Police said Brooks took off shortly after breaking into the car.

Deputies later spotted the car driving east on Highway 26, and pulled it over, they said. Brooks was arrested a short time later.
