OREGON CITY, OR (KPTV) -
One person was killed in a crash that closed down Highway 99E south of Oregon City Friday.
Oregon State Police said it happened at around 1:30 p.m. near Milepost 17 north of South End Road.
Troopers said a 2001 Dodge Durango was heading north on the highway when it crossed the center paved median and collided nearly head-on with a car driving south.
The driver of the car heading south was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Durango was taken to the hospital. The extent of his injuries is not yet known.
Police have not revealed what led to the Durango crossing the center median.
The names of the people involved in the crash will not be released until Saturday morning at the earliest, according to police.
