ASHLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Severe winter weather shut down Interstate 5 in southern Oregon Friday.
The Oregon Department of Transportation closed the highway to all southbound traffic at Exit 14 in south Ashland at around 5 p.m. because of treacherous weather conditions in northern California.
ODOT workers turned away all southbound drivers at that exit to back to into the Rogue Valley.
The road was open again by 8 p.m. Chains are required for all vehicles that don't have four-wheel drive.
