Threats investigated in Columbia Gorge, teen arrested

DALLESPORT, WA (KPTV) -

Two schools in the Columbia Gorge were into partial lockdowns Friday morning and one 15-year-old boy is facing charges.

It started when a woman reported her child did not want to go to school because of rumors circulating that something might happen at the school.

Deputies immediately contacted Dallesport Elementary School, which was placed into a partial lockdown. Investigators said there was no information that a substantiated threat existed.

However, a second call was then made regarding a student making a statement about harming others at either Dallesport or Lyle schools.

Detectives followed leads about possible witnesses in the Dalles, about 10 minutes away across the border into Oregon.

At 2 p.m. a 15-year-old boy was arrested on charges of false reporting of an emergency and false reporting to a law enforcement officer.

Schools in Dallesport and Lyles completed the school day without further incident. Deputies said there is nothing to suggest that either school or their students were in any danger.

The Klickitat County Sheriff's Office was in contact with all rural schools during the investigation.
