Angel statue that reminds man of late wife taken from yard

A statue that reminded a Vancouver man of his late wife has disappeared from his front yard.

Dewayne and Adella Ernesti were married for 59 years and during that time she loved to collect gifts shaped like angels.

That included a 2-foot porcelain statue that was displayed in their front yard for decades.

A few weeks ago, the couple's daughter pulled into the driveway and immediately noticed that the angel was gone. She had given it to her mom for Mother's Day years ago.

Fearing it was gone forever, the family decided to take a unique approach to try and get it back. They put out a very public plea in the form of a sign in the yard.

It says, "Our wife/mother is deceased, please please return her angel."

Adella Ernesti died in 2009. She left behind a giant collection of angels that numbers in the hundreds. The one in their front yard had been there for at least 30 years.

Dewayne Ernesti said he just don't understand why someone would take it.

"I'd have to find out, 'Why did you take it? Do you need it?'" he said. "If you need help with something, come to me. You don't have to steal something of mine."

Now, he just hopes someone will bring it back.
