PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland police homicide detectives continued Thursday to look into the death of a woman found dead at an apartment complex not far from the Portland State University campus.

Someone called police around 10 p.m. Tuesday to report the woman dead in an apartment at the Collective Portland Apartments on the 2000 block of Southwest Park Avenue.

Police identified the victim as 33-year-old Jaime Larson. An autopsy was performed on her body on Wednesday. It showed she died of homicidal violence, police said.

Based on what officers initially saw in the apartment, homicide detectives and criminalists were called to the scene. Police have not released any information about the person who called police. Police have also not revealed yet how or when Larson died.

Tabitha McMurphy moved into the apartment complex three days ago. She said she saw a man leave the complex around 10 p.m., not long before police arrived.

"I didn't see his face. He had a backpack on and a hoodie," she said.

McMurphy said she has no idea whether the man is linked to the woman's death, but she gave a statement to detectives. Neighbors said Larson lived with her boyfriend in the apartment and they hadn't seen her in the last couple of days.

Court records obtained by FOX 12 show Larson filed for a restraining order earlier this year against a man by the name of Tim Ruppel, who at one point had also filed a restraining order against her. By March of this year, documents show both had filed motions in court to dismiss the orders.

According to Larson's Facebook page, she and Ruppel were involved in a romantic relationship for several years.

Portland police have talked with Ruppel since Larson's body was discovered, but investigators have not named any suspects in the case, they said.

Trevor Kuszmaul, who lives in the apartment complex where Larson's body was found, says he moved to Portland two months ago. He lost his own friend to violence in Las Vegas, NV, several weeks back, he said.

"Coming here and finding it right outside my window... I've never seen a forensic team or caution tape that close to where I live. It's pretty unnerving. It's pretty scary," Kuszmaul said.

David Silver, who has lived in the neighborhood for more than 10 years, said there are occasionally issues stemming from transients passing through the area.

"We have some problems from transients moving around through that area, from people who would not ordinarily be in the neighborhood being here," Silver said. "But it's generally quiet."

Investigators are asking anyone in the community who has information about Larson's death to call Portland police.
