Longview gym owner robbed then attacked with knife

LONGVIEW, WA (KPTV) -

Longview police are investigating a Christmas Day robbery at a popular gym that ended with a reported knife attack between the gym's owner and another man.

Greg Price, who owns the Forever Fit gym off 18th Avenue, told FOX 12 that he stopped by his business around 2 p.m. Tuesday to use the restroom and drop off a new printer that he had just received as a gift. He only expected to be inside a few minutes, he said.

Price heard some glass break just feet from the front door, he said.

"I go ... 'oh crap! I wonder what that is? Maybe somebody got rear-ended or something,'" Price said.

Price rushed outside to find another man standing next to his car that was locked and parked on the side of the street, he said. He got the man's attention then realized the man had just smashed his passenger-side window to steal a new printer that was sitting on the front seat, he said.

"All of a sudden he pulls a knife and I duck. I give him a nice little punch. He drops the knife. I pick up the knife, hit him in the side. I think it was the right side," Price said.

The man ran off with Price's printer, some cash that was inside Price's car, and a few Christmas cards, Price said.

Price doesn't believe the knife actually touched the man's skin because he was wearing so many layers, he said. Police did not find the knife and did not notice any blood on the ground, they said.

Price described the man was white, about 5'10" tall, and weighed about 120 pounds. He was wearing a black mask and a green hooded sweatshirt, Price said.

Price suffered a sore shoulder, he said. He keeps thinking back to the warning his mother gave him earlier in the day.

"She goes, 'I told ya not to leave anything in the car.' So rule of thumb ... don't leave anything in the car," Price said.

Longview police told FOX 12 that they are investigating what happened. If you have any information about who the robber was, you're asked to call them.

Price's landlord plans to install security cameras in the area within the next few days, Price said.
