Man steals computer setup to help customers at Safeway

WOODLAND, WA (KPTV) -

Woodland police said a man was caught on camera after stealing a laptop computer from a Safeway store.

It happened Dec. 29 at 12:40 p.m. The man entered the store at 1725 Pacific Ave., Woodland and sat down at a computer setup to assist customers.

The man then broke the lock securing the computer to the table and was seen running out of the store with it.

It is an HP mini laptop with a Verizon chip. Police said it's valued at $1,000.

About 30 minutes prior to this theft, an employee at a Safeway store in Longview reported a similar crime. The thief in that case also got away with a laptop.
