Charlie Hales sworn in as mayor at 12:01 a.m.

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland Mayor Charlie Hales celebrated New Year's with a swearing-in ceremony at 12:01 a.m.

Portland's new mayor was officially sworn in at his home after the clock struck midnight.

His ceremonial swearing-in as mayor is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at City Hall, 1221 S.W. Fourth Ave.

Hales was elected mayor in November over Jefferson Smith. He replaces Sam Adams who did not seek a second term in office.
