PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Lights on Christmas tree started a fire that caused $25,000 in damage to a southeast Portland home.
Firefighters were called out to the home near Southeast 140th and Main Street at 3:45 a.m. Tuesday. A heavy fire was burning in the front room when crews arrived.
Firefighters cut a hole in the roof to ventilate flammable fire gasses.
The fire was quickly put out and the man who lives in the home was found at a neighbor's house. He had to climb out of a window to escape because his door was blocked by fire.
Firefighters said a smoke alarm woke him up.
Investigators said lights on a Christmas tree caused the fire.
