WOODBURN, OR (KPTV) -
Police in Woodburn arrested a man that they saw assaulting a woman.
Officers responded to an apartment complex on North Fifth Street just after 2 a.m. Tuesday after receiving reports of an armed man fighting with a woman.
Police say when they arrived on the scene, they saw the suspect, Alfonso Felipe Jacinto, hitting the woman. Officers say the suspect saw them and then fled through the apartment complex and tried to hide.
A K-9 unit was called in to track the suspect, who was found two blocks away hiding behind a propped up door.
Jacinto was arrested and lodged in the Marion County Correctional Facility on charges of assault, attempted burglary and strangulation, as well as a previous warrant.
Officers say the victim was known to Jacinto, and she did not suffer serious injuries. They believe alcohol may have been a contributing factor.
