Scottsdale police said a suspicious device that led to the evacuation of a Chase Bank in far north Scottsdale has been rendered inactive.
The device was found taped to a table in the front entry area at the Chase Bank at 100011 E. Dynamite Blvd., and was fashioned to appear as an explosive device, according to Officer David Pubins of the Scottsdale Police Department.
He said the item was noticed by bank employees about 8:15 a.m. before the bank opened for business. The employees were immediately evacuated.
Pubins said a bomb squad from Mesa was called in to further evaluate the device.
Pubins added that the bank had not received any demand notices.
Investigators continue to collect evidence at the scene and said the bank will remain closed for the rest of the day.
No other information was immediately available.
