COOS BAY, OR (KPTV) -
The U.S. Coast Guard rescued three fishermen from a 39-foot crab boat that ran aground near Coos Bay.
The boat's emergency indicating radio beacon sent a report about the situation early Wednesday morning. An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Station North Bend responded, along with a 47-foot motor lifeboat crew from Station Coos Bay.
Firefighters from Charleston also assisted in the rescue operation.
The helicopter crew hoisted the fishermen off the boat at 3:30 a.m.
Pollution investigators are now assessing the scene and working with the owner to develop a salvage plan.
The boat is reported to have 4,000 pounds of catch on board, as well as 400 gallons of fuel.
