Robert Thomas
PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
A 31-year-old man is facing several charges after Portland police say he attacked two women just hours into the new year.
On Tuesday, officers responded to a report of a stabbing at a residence in the 7500 block of Southeast Ramona Street just after six in the morning.
Police learned that Robert Thomas had gotten into a fight with his girlfriend and two of her friends tried to intervene, investigators said.
Thomas then began to attack the two friends, and one of them got a knife to defend herself, police told FOX 12.
One of the friends stabbed Thomas, then the other witness took the knife and stabbed him again, officers said.
Thomas was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening and was later released.
Police said the witnesses and the suspect's girlfriend have cooperated with their investigation.
After his release from the hospital, police arrested Thomas on two counts of fourth-degree assault and one count of harassment (domestic violence).
Thomas was booked into the Multnomah County Jail.
The case will now be reviewed by the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office.
