LONG BEACH, WA (KPTV) -
A $5,500 reward is being offered after somebody drove through 92 birds on the Long Beach Peninsula. The Wildlife Center of the North Coast said it happened Thursday, Dec. 27 when somebody mowed down the Sandpiper-type shorebirds called Dunlin.
Seabirds and shorebirds are protected under state law and it is illegal to harm or kill them. One of the birds was found alive with a torn off wing. It later had to be euthanized. Anybody with information is asked to contact Fish and Wildlife Sgt. Dan Chadwick at 360-581-3337.
