Mayor of Seattle pays up after Portland Timbers wager

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn has paid up on his Portland Timbers wager with former Mayor Sam Adams.

Thanks to the Timbers winning Major League Soccer's Cascadia Cup, McGinn had to wear Timbers green. This week, he posted a video to YouTube of him delivering a message to Timbers fans while donning the green and white jersey.

"Hey Timbers fans, happy holidays, happy new year and congratulations on winning the Cascadia Cup," McGinn said.

Back in October, a Jack Jewsbury strike from 30 yards away gave the Timbers a 1-0 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps to clinch the Cascadia Cup trophy.

The annual competition is a series of matches between Seattle, Vancouver and Portland. The team with the best head-to-head record wins the Cascadia crown.

McGinn isn't done gambling. The mayor of the city with the losing team in this weekend's Seattle Seahawks-Washington Redskins game must fly the victory's flag over city hall for a day.
