After more than three hours, the mother of a 3-year-old boy found crying and wandering on a street in east Vancouver came forward.
Vancouver officers first responded at about 12:50 p.m. to reports of a boy near Washington Elementary School at 2908 S St.
Officers then knocked on doors in a five-block radius of the school and reached out to neighbors through reverse 911 calls.
But police were not able to locate his parents.
At about 4:30 p.m., Vancouver police said a woman called 911 in a panic to say her son was missing. Officers are now interviewing the woman to confirm she is the boy's mother.
There is no word yet if charges may be filed in this case.
