CLACKAMAS, OR (KPTV) -

Family and friends gathered in Clackamas on Sunday to remember a 7-year-old boy killed in a car crash.

They held a celebration of life ceremony for Jake Arntson at Clackamas High School.

State Police say Arntson and his dad were driving west on Interstate 84 New Year's Eve when the dad lost control on the icy road near Mosier.

Their truck ended up in the Columbia River.

The dad was able to escape the truck, but Jake Arntson did not.

Family spoke about Arntson during the service.

Uncle Tony Arntson said, "He would take you in with those big eyes and bright smile and he would make you feel that at that time, in that one moment you were the most important person in the world."

The memorial service also acted as a fundraiser for the Arntson family to help them cover funeral costs.

You can still donate at any Wells Fargo bank under the name "Jacob Arntson Memorial Foundation."
