TIGARD, OR (KPTV) -

Tigard police are on the lookout for whoever broke into a church and stole money from a donation jar.

Investigators say someone broke into Tigard Covenant Church on SW Naeve Street on Sunday morning and stole a donation jar from the Sunday school which was raising money for starving kids in Africa.

They say whoever took the jar also broke the window to the pastor's office and trashed the inside.

Two women say they found the suspect hiding in the church sanctuary before the morning service. They say he took off running when they entered the room. Police searched the area, but could not track him down.

Police describe the suspect as a white man in his 30s, wearing ripped jeans, a grey sweatshirt, and may have had a red goatee.  Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Tigard Police.
