BURNS, OR (KPTV) -
A hit-and-run investigation involving a semi pulling a flatbed trailer led to the arrest of two people accused of hauling a meth lab.
It happened in Burns at around noon Friday. Officers and deputies responded to Highway 20 following complaints of reckless driving regarding a 2002 Freightliner truck.
Investigators stopped the truck and said they found a small, dismantled methamphetamine lab inside.
Oregon State Police sent members from the statewide Clandestine Lab Response Team to coordinate the removal of the lab items.
Steven Smith, 46, and Bridget Golding, 39, both from Jacksonville, AR, were arrested. They are each charged with unlawful possession and manufacture of a controlled substance, while Smith faces the additional charge of driving under the influence of drugs.
The dismantled lab was turned over to a hazmat team contacted by DEQ to respond for disposal.
