Athletic director says Chip Kelly staying with the Ducks

Posted: Updated:

After a weekend full of rumors and reports about where Chip Kelly would end up, it turns out he isn't going anywhere after all.

University of Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens confirmed Monday that Kelly will coach the Oregon Ducks football team for the 2013 season.

Mullens said during a press conference Monday he considers the annual talk about NFL teams pursuing Kelly a good problem to have because of what it says about Oregon's coach.

Kelly was linked to a job opening with the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccanneers last year and reportedly interviewed with several NFL teams on the heels of the Ducks Fiesta Bowl victory over Kansas State last week.

However, there are no long-term assurances about Kelly's future with the university beyond this season, Mullens said.

The Ducks have made four consecutive BCS bowl appearances and won two in a row.
