The price for parking violations in Portland is going up

Posted: Updated:
PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

If you get caught not feeding the meter in Portland, it's going to cost you more than ever before.

The Circuit Court for Multnomah County said the bail amounts for seven different parking violations will go up starting Feb. 7.

The changes are in line with comparable cities in the U.S., according to authorities.

The circuit court and the City of Portland advise drivers to read the signs, pay at the meter, display their parking receipts and permits properly and ensure their vehicle is legally parked and has front and rear license plates attached.

The court maintains discretion in adjusting fine amounts for individual violations.

The current and future bail amounts are listed below.

Violation Current bail amount New bail amount
No meter receipt $45 $60
Improper display of meter receipt    $34 $39
No front or rear plate            $55 $80
Area permit required $60 $80
Carpool zone $70 $90
Truck loading zone $65 $90
Truck loading zone overtime $65 $90

The truck loading zone overtime violation is effective July 1.
