PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Today would have been the King of Rock n' Roll's 78th birthday, and a Portland ice cream shop is paying tribute to Elvis Presley in its own special way.
Salt & Straw is dishing out "The Elvis" this month.
You may recall one of the singer's favorite treats was a fried peanut butter and banana sandwich.
The Elvis is malted banana ice cream with Marionberry jam from Oregon Hill Farms and creamy peanut butter.
"Hopefully, in each scoop, you get a bite of peanut butter and jelly in each," said Salt & Straw ice cream maker James Foster.
The folks at Salt & Straw can even turn The Elvis into a sundae for you by using sweet rolls from An Xuyen Bakery, candied bacon and whipped cream.
Salt & Straw has two locations, one on Northeast Alberta Street and another on Northwest 23rd Avenue.
