SCAPPOOSE, OR (KPTV) -
A man walked into the Scappoose police station Tuesday with an item he believed was a disconnected bomb.
Police Chief Doug Greisen said it happened at 2:30 p.m. on East Columbia Avenue. The man had the device in an ice chest and he said he thought it was a bomb, but he believed it had been disconnected.
The police station and city hall were evacuated, along with several streets in the area.
The Oregon State Police bomb squad responded to the scene and blew up the ice chest. It has not been revealed what was actually inside.
It's also not yet known if the man who brought it to the police station will face any charges.
The scene was clear by 6:15 p.m.
