PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

One person died and three others were injured in a collision on Columbia Boulevard in north Portland ahead of Wednesday morning's commute.

The crash happened at 6:31 a.m. at the intersection with North Argyle Way.

Paramedics determined one person died at the scene. Two others were rushed to Legacy Emanuel Hospital with what police considered traumatic injuries, while a fourth victim was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Firefighters said the driver of a four-door pickup truck crashed into a utility pole.

Four men were inside the truck when it crashed. Two of them were able to get out of the truck before crews arrived, but one was pinned inside and the fourth died in the wreck.

The police bureau's major crash team is investigating the collision.

The intersection of Columbia Boulevard and Argyle Way was closed for the morning commute. Drivers were told to use North Lombard as an alternate route until traffic is clear.
