Some parts of western Oregon wake up to snow

Posted: Updated:
PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Parts of the Portland metro area woke up to a dusting of snow Thursday, but an otherwise quiet weather day appears to be in store Thursday.

FOX 12 received reports of snowfall everywhere from St. Helens to Estacada during the morning commute.

Fox 12 meteorologists had forecasted  the possibility of a burst of snow showers between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. By 9:15 a.m., the snow appeared to be tapering off.

There didn't appear to be any snow accumulation at the valley floor, and there was very little at higher elevations, so snow lovers likely weren't able to take the sled out of the garage.

Icy roads are not expected to be an issue Thursday.

No snow is expected for the remainder of Thursday or Friday. It's expected to be partly cloudy with a flurry or shower possible and a high near 40.
