OSP trooper honored for saving a life

NEWPORT, OR (KPTV) -

Oregon State Police Trooper Adam Kowing was given the Harold R. Berg Lifesaving award for preventing a suicidal man from jumping off a Newport area bridge last summer.

Last July, Kowing followed the man onto a bridge and prevented him from jumping.

"Adam's quick and selfless reaction during a life-threatening situation ultimately saved this man's life and is a testament to the measure and strength of his character," said OSP Superintendent Richard Evans.
