PUCALLPA, PERU -
Federal investigators will travel to Peru to investigate a helicopter crash that killed seven people, including a man with Oregon ties.
A National Transportation Safety Board team will assist Peruvian authorities with the investigation.
The helicopter, owned by Aurora-based Columbia Helicopters, crashed in a jungle Monday. Five of the people killed were American, including Darrel Birkes, who grew up in Beaverton.
Birkes had lived in Peru for more than a decade.
