PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Police have identified the man killed in the first local traffic fatality of 2013.
The crash happened at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday on North Columbia Boulevard and Argyle Way. Investigators said a four-door pickup crashed into a utility pole.
Adan Gonzalez, 39, of Albuquerque, NM, died at the scene.
The driver, Eleno Guillen, 39, of Gardner, TX, remains in a Portland hospital. Two other passengers suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the truck was heading north when the driver lost control and went into a grassy median. The truck went down an embankment and hit a telephone pole on the south side of Columbia Boulevard.
Investigators believe alcohol was a factor and will forward police reports to the Multnomah County district attorney's office for possible criminal charges.
