FOREST GROVE, OR (KPTV) -
A Forest Grove man is accused of killing the family dog after an altercation with the animal.
Michael Burns, 45, was in court charged with animal abuse Friday. Deputies were called to his house on Nichols Lane on Dec. 1 after receiving reports he had killed the family's golden retriever by cutting the dog's throat with a knife.
A family member reported the incident.
Deputies arrested Burns on Dec. 8.
A Washington County grand jury indicted Burns Friday on the charges of animal abuse and animal neglect.
He will remain out of custody until he's due back in court for a pre-trial hearing on Feb. 4.
