Local dance group raising money for presidential performance

Posted: Updated:

The Inaugural Committee in Washington, D.C. tapped the Northwest Dragon & Lion Dance Association to march in the Inaugural parade after President Obama is sworn in on January 21st.

The Portland group received an invitation to participate just before Christmas.  It's the only group from Oregon invited to participate in the parade.

The group's leader, Wally Chow says at first he didn't  believe it was really happening.

He says they still need to raise about $10 thousand dollars to make the trip.

Today they'll be holding a fundraiser at the Wong King Seafood Restaurant at 8733 Southeast Division to raise the rest of the money.
