Columbia County, OR (KPTV) -

Oregon State Police said they found a man wanted for multiple sex crimes hiding in thick brush in a remote wooded area of Columbia County.

Casey Wood, 28, was arrested Friday afternoon on charges including rape and sex abuse.

Troopers were called to the Birkenfeld area along Burn Road where they found an unoccupied van stuck in the mud and bicycle tracks leading away from the road.

The troopers followed the bike tracks about 3 miles to the end of the trail, where they said a man was trying to conceal himself in the thick brush.

At first he was uncooperative, according to police, but Wood eventually came out. Troopers said he first provided a false name, claiming he may have been wanted for an unpaid ticket.

After providing his real name, police confirmed Wood was wanted on sex crime charges out of Grant County.

Wood was taken to the Clatsop County Jail before being transferred back to Grant County where he has an appearance pending in Grant County Circuit Court.
