PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
A generous couple is helping to make the life of an injured Portland Police officer a bit easier.
A tree fell on Officer Paul Meyer during ATV training in November, leaving him paralyzed.
When the couple heard about his story on the news, they wanted to help. So, they went to Dick Hannah Toyota and bought him a Toyota Sienna minivan.
In a Facebook posting, General Manager Brian Sanders wrote that the couple was in the military and recently received a modest inheritance.
"These are not close friends of Paul's. When they saw the news of the accident on TV, the husband recognized him as a man he had spoken with briefly once during a traffic stop. Outside of that brief encounter, they had never met," Sanders said.
The couple wishes to remain anonymous.
You can read Sanders' Facebook post here. As of Monday afternoon, it had 90,000 likes and 20,000 comments.
