LAKE OSWEGO, OR (KPTV) -

Lake Oswego High School was evacuated Monday afternoon because of a fire burning in a bathroom.

Firefighters said they immediately saw smoke coming from the gym. The fire had been put out by school workers, but it left soot and smoke in the bathroom and hallway.

Students were let back into the main school building shortly after firefighters arrived.

Fire crews remained on the scene for about an hour to assist in clearing the smoke out of the gym before turning the building back over to the school district.

The fire caused at least $2,000 in damage to the bathroom. Investigators said it was human-caused, but no suspects have been identified. Lake Oswego police are now investigating.
