PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A teenage boy accused of murdering Yashanee Vaughn is set to accept a plea deal and spend 18 years behind bars.

The victim's family released a statement Tuesday night saying they believe it's a sad day for justice if Parrish Bennette has a chance to be back on the streets in less than 20 years.

Don Rees, with the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office, said Bennette will be in court Thursday and is expected to plead guilty in the case.

It's not yet known what charges Bennette will plead guilty to.

Yashanee Vaughn, 14, was first reported missing in March 2011. Her body was found hidden at Rocky Butte in northeast Portland after a four-month search.

Bennette is accused of shooting and killing the girl a few days before she was reported missing.

"I'm so disappointed but the sentencing hearing will be Thursday and we hope everyone will come out to have a voice for Yashanee," the family's statement said.
