Beaverton police seeking tips in teen's hit-and-run death

Posted: Updated:

Beaverton police want to know who struck and killed a teenager in a hit-and-run accident near Jesuit High School on Tuesday night.

The teen, identified as 18-year-old Harley Rocher, of Aloha, was found face down in the road near Southwest Laurelwood and Homewood streets just before 8 p.m.

Police don't know anything about the driver who crashed into him and then drove away. They're asking for any witnesses to come forward.

Mike Rowe, a Beaverton police spokesman, said the car involved should have "significant damage."

A woman who lives nearby said she wasn't necessarily surprised to hear about the crash.

"This road at night is extremely dangerous. It's dark. There are no lights. And people use it as a speedway," Shannon Galloway said.

Galloway said she was hit on the same road one month ago.

In the latest crash, police and the Washington County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team are still trying to piece together what happened.

"We will need the public's help in locating the suspect vehicle and identifying the suspect who caused the death of Harley Rocher," Rowe said.

Rocher last attended Merlo Station High School, but he was not a student there this term.
