PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Police are looking for a man who fired shots at a car waiting in a fast food restaurant's drive-through line in southeast Portland.

Officers were called to the Jack in the Box at 4242 S.E. 82nd Ave. at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.

They contacted a man and woman who said an unknown African American man fired multiple shots at their car and then ran away westbound on Boise Street.

Witness Ben Austin was standing across the street when he heard a gunshot. He spotted a man standing on the sidewalk, next to the drive-through lane.

"He shoots like three more rounds into the vehicle. I wasn't sure which vehicle he was really shooting at," said Austin. "Then he ran right across the street, right by me, with a gun in hand."

Nobody was hit by the gunfire. Two bullets hit the passenger side of the car. One hit the building, near the drive-through window.

The car's hood was also damaged when the driver ran into the SUV waiting in front of them, in an attempt to avoid the gunfire.

"They were trying to get out of there, they rear-ended the guy in front of him, then threw it in reverse," said Austin.

Witnesses said the suspect is in his 20s, 5'10" with a skinny build, wearing all black clothing.

Jack in the Box was closed during the investigation, but reopened after two hours.

Preliminary reports by responding officers indicate the shooting could be gang-related.
