WOODLAND, WA (KPTV) -

A crash involving semi trucks near Woodland brought Interstate 5 traffic to a halt Friday night.

It happened at 4:50 p.m. in the southbound lanes near Milepost 18. Troopers said the first semi began drifting toward the right as the second one moved toward the middle lane.

The first semi left the roadway and hit a metal post supporting a sign bridge across the freeway. The sign bridge came down onto the cab of the second semi.

Investigators said the driver of the first semi told them he blacked out and the next thing he remembers was crawling out of his truck. He was taken to a local hospital to get checked out.

The driver of the second semi suffered cuts to his face and a possible broken arm.

By 6:30 p.m., one semi had been removed from the scene and the other was gone by 7:45 p.m., but traffic was still backed up for miles.
