TUALATIN, OR (KPTV) -
A suspect accused of breaking into a Tualatin apartment and attacking a sleeping man is now behind bars.
A warrant was issued for Kristopher Basta, 38, on Jan. 17. Police said he entered the apartment on Southwest Sagert Street at 2 a.m. Jan. 5.
Investigators said he attacked a man sleeping inside the apartment. The victim recognized Basta, according to police, and this was not a stranger-on-stranger crime.
Tualatin police said Basta made several claims that he would turn himself in, but never followed through.
On Jan. 18, a day after the warrant was issued, Tualatin police were alerted to the whereabouts of Basta.
He was taken into custody near the 8700 block of Southwest Tualatin-Sherwood Road and booked into the Washington County Jail.
He is charged with burglary and assault.
