EUGENE, OR (KPTV) -

Oregon Ducks backup quarterback Bryan Bennett is leaving the University of Oregon.

Bennett informed the football staff of his intentions to transfer to another school, head coach Mark Helfrich confirmed Tuesday.

Bennett lost out on the starting job before the 2012 season when then-head coach Chip Kelly gave the job to redshirt freshman Marcus Mariota.

Bennett played in 10 games as a reserve in 2012, his sophomore season, completing 20-of-37 passes for 211 yards and three touchdowns. In 2011, he was 25-of-46 for 369 yards and six touchdown passes.

Bennett also completed his Oregon career rushing for 365 yards, with all six of his rushing TDs occurring this year.

The University of Oregon did not announce where Bennett intends to transfer. The website Duck Territory, in a story reprinted by ESPN, reported he will enroll in classes at Southeastern Louisiana this week.
