A Hillsboro police officer charged with attempted aggravated murder is behind bars on $1 million bail.
Timothy Cannon made his first court appearance Tuesday.
Police and deputies responded to his Forest Grove home Sunday and said he was armed and holding his wife and daughter hostage.
They were not harmed in the incident, but 10 officers fired their guns during the shootout and one was hit in the hand.
Investigators said Cannon also fired at police.
"Generally in an officer-involved shooting, we have one, maybe two officers who fired," said Sgt. Dave Thompson with the Washington County Sheriff's Office. "So this is going to take a long time to get all of the statements from them and witnesses all compiled and all together."
All 10 officers who fired their guns are on paid administrative leave.
Cannon's family was not in the courtroom Tuesday, but several Hillsboro officers showed up for the arraignment. He has been part of the patrol division for 13 years.
They did not comment on the case.
Cannon is due back in court for a hearing on Jan. 28.
