MEDFORD, OR (KPTV) -
Five men in southern Oregon have been arrested on third-degree sex abuse charges after the parents of a 16-year-old boy came forward to police.
Medford police said they became aware the teen had been engaging in sex acts with various adults he met online.
Detectives started an investigation and found the boy had met 10 men via Craigslist and several smart phone apps. They said the men engaged in sexual acts with the teen, sometimes on multiple occasions, and usually at the suspects' homes.
Detectives said they were able to identify eight of the suspects, and on Wednesday, they arrested five of them. Three suspects are believed to be out of the area and police plan to issue arrest warrants for them.
The following men were booked into jail on charges of third-degree sex abuse and contributing to the sexual delinquency of a minor: Tobias Hoffine, 25; James Coey, 24; Paul Garcia, 50; Kristopher Mix, 24; Dameon Knapp, 30.
Their bail was set at $8,000 each.
