CAMAS, WA (KPTV) -

A man's controversial Facebook post about hoping someone would shoot up a local school is not a crime.

Camas police investigated the post made by Jeffery Berni, 39, of Vancouver, on Tuesday.

Investigators said he was involved in a verbal altercation with several Camas fans and then posted on his personal Facebook account: "Camas Fans!!!!! Worst in the league!!!! I hope someone shoots up their school really soon!!!!!!!!!!"

The post was discovered near the end of the basketball game between Camas and Skyview high schools, while Berni was still in attendance. Police said they were not notified about it until the following morning.

The Camas Police Department, in cooperation with the Clark County Sheriff's Office, contacted Berni who apologized and described his actions as "stupid."

Investigators said the post was alarming, but did not reach the level of a criminal action.

While no criminal charges were filed, Berni is not allowed on Camas School District property or Vancouver School District property.
