Four men were hurt after being hit by a car outside Shari's Restaurant in Gresham.
Investigators said it happened at 3:48 a.m. Friday at 811 SW Highland Dr. The driver of the 2009 Mercedes C30, Brad Eason, 30, of Gresham, is in custody and charged with attempted murder, assault, DUII and reckless driving.
Eason was arraigned in court Monday. His bail is set at $200,000. He is due back in court Feb. 5.
Police said Eason was hanging out with a large group of people earlier in the evening. They left a bar and went to Shari's.
Investigators said an argument started between Eason and two women within the group. A man then got into a physical fight with Eason and they had to be separated.
The group then broke into smaller sections and prepared to leave. Eason walked alone to his car and then drove toward the front of the restaurant where several people were still standing, according to police.
Witnesses said they heard the car's tires lose traction as Eason accelerated and initiated a hard left turn into an open parking spot near the front door. The Mercedes struck an SUV, drove onto the walkway and into part of the restaurant's entrance, hitting four people in the process.
Ron Polanco, 23, of Gresham, was thrown into the car's windshield, breaking it, before being hurled into a large window behind him. It did not break the window, but it did tear the frame off the wall.
Polanco suffered injuries to his head that were not life-threatening.
Kennyth Estoy, 23, of Troutdale was taken to the hospital with a fractured leg.
Dan Daugherty, 32, of Boring, suffered a minor leg injury. He was not part of the original group and just happened to be outside at the time, according to police.
Najee Newman, 21, of Portland, went to the hospital with arm and leg injuries. Police said Newman is the man who got into a physical altercation with Eason before the crash.
Officers said after crashing into the men and the building, Eason got out and went after one of the men he had just hit. He was quickly subdued by the witnesses until police arrived and took him into custody.
