The Oregon State Police said 20-year-old Tiffany Brewer from Newberg was cited for DUII and other charges Thursday morning when the car she was driving crashed and hit another vehicle on Highway 219 four miles north of Woodburn.
Investigators said Brewer was southbound on Highway 219 near milepost 32 when she lost control and collided nearly head-on with a northbound pickup driven by 54-year-old Panfilo Galvan-Gonzalez from Woodburn. The pickup came to rest on its side and Brewer's car stopped off the highway.
Brewer was taken by ambulance to Salem Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. She was using safety restraints and her car's airbags deployed. Galvan-Gonzalez and his wife, passenger 51-year-old Domitila Aquino, were also transported by ambulance to Salem Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Aquino was treated and released. Both were using safety restraints.
Subsequent to the initial investigation, Brewer was cited by OSP for DUII-drugs, reckless driving and assault in the fourth degree. A Salem police officer assisted OSP at the hospital with the investigation.
OSP was assisted at the scene by the Marion County Sheriff's Office, fire departments from Newberg and St. Paul and ODOT. Senior Trooper Andrew Goffrier is the lead investigator.
The highway, which was icy and under foggy conditions at the time, was closed for about 90 minutes.
