Teen arrested for chemical spill at school also faces drug charge

A 14-year-old accused of causing a chemical spill at Skyview High School is also charged with dealing marijuana.

The freshman boy was arrested Thursday after police said he brought a bottle full of ammonia and bleach to school. Court documents allege he held it up to two other students and asked them to inhale the toxic substance.

Investigators said the boy admitted knowing the mixture was toxic.

A student pushed the bottle away and the chemical mix spilled onto the classroom floor.

Seven people, including students and teachers, had to be taken to the hospital.

A hazmat team was called to the scene and parents were notified about the situation by a phone message.

The student was expelled from school before he was arrested.

He made his initial appearance in juvenile court Friday morning on charges of assault and reckless endangering for the chemical spill, as well charges of dealing a controlled substance.

Court documents show police questioned the teen about a marijuana sale in Vancouver on Dec. 10. Police said the boy admitted selling marijuana to another person.

A judge ordered him held without bail Friday until at least his next court appearance, which is Jan. 30 for both cases.
