VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -
Vancouver police shot and killed a 16-year-old teen they said was a suspect in a series of armed robberies and a home invasion on Friday.
Police identified the teen as Douglas E. Combs and investigators said he was armed at the time of the shooting.
A spokesperson for Vancouver police says law enforcement officers from Vancouver and the Clark County Sheriff's Office were responding to the area of East 19th and C streets about 11:30 p.m. when they tried to make contact with two armed individuals.
Police said Combs was the primary suspect in three crimes that happened on Friday starting at a home invasion shooting on Northeast Minnehaha.
They said Combs also was responsible for an armed robbery at a 7-Eleven convenience store on Northeast Saint Johns Boulevard, as well as an armed robbery at a Shell station at Andresen and Fourth Plain.
Late Friday night, police shot and killed Combs and took another 16-year-old boy into custody on unlawful possession of a firearm.
The name of the officer is not being released at this time but has been placed on paid administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation.
