Police are on the hunt for man who grabbed a woman from behind and tackled her in her own driveway Saturday evening. Police say it's the second such incident this month.
The attack happened around 7:30 p.m., when the woman left her home and was about to get into her car near Northwest 29th Street and Northwest Fillmore Avenue.
She was pulled to the ground and the suspect hit her several times in the torso. She managed to fight him off, and he ran away.
Oregon State Police and a canine unit from the Benton County Sheriff's Office responded to search for the suspect, but he wasn't found.
The suspect was described as being over six feet tall with an athletic build and dark eyelashes. He was wearing a mask over his face with a single eye hole, black athletic style pants, white shoes, and a dark navy blue or black hooded, pull over style sweatshirt.
The sweatshirt had a white circle printed upon the back with cursive style writing that extended from the lower left side of the circle, across the center, to the upper right.
Police say the incident is similar to another one that occurred on the night of January 15th, less than a mile away on the Oregon State University campus, in which another woman was attacked and knocked to the ground.
The suspect in the earlier incident was described as a white male in his early to mid 20's, approximately 6'0" tall with a "bulky" build, short dark hair with a thin face and bushy eyebrows. The victim in that incident was able to provide enough information for investigators to develop a composite drawing of the suspect.
The Corvallis Police Department is asking if anyone in the area of Northwest 29th Street and Northwest Fillmore Avenue on January 26th saw anyone matching the description of the suspect, or saw any persons or vehicles that appeared out of place or suspicious.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Corvallis Police Department at (541) 766-6924.
