Police say a man led them on a chase throughout Southeast Portland early Sunday morning and now that man is set to be arraigned in court.

Portland police tried to stop the driver of a 1995 Toyota Tercel at the intersection of SE 111th Avenue and Harold Street just after midnight for a traffic infraction. The driver refused to stop and sped away southbound on 111th. Officers tried a PIT maneuver to stop him, but the driver kept on going eastbound on Foster Road, then turned southbound on 162nd Avenue toward Happy Valley.

The driver then tried to make a turn onto SE Vrandenburg Road, but lost control and rolled the vehicle onto its side.

The driver, 26-year-old Michael Duane Zook ,was taken to a Portland hospital for minor injuries before being arrested. A 25-year-old female passenger was treated for minor injuries at the scene and released.

Zook was charged with attempt to elude by vehicle, possession of methamphetamine, reckless driving and reckless endangerment. He also had two outstanding warrants for failure to register as a sex offender and burglary.
