Woman seriously injured in crash on Highway 26

Posted: Updated:

Kendra Domico, 35, was seriously injured Saturday night when she crashed in a wooded area on Highway 26 near Southeast Kelso Road.

A motorist spotted Domico's car in the woods just off of Highway 26 at milepost 22 Sunday morning. Investigators believe she crashed Saturday evening and at some point after the crash got out of the car and wandered away about 150 feet to the point where she was found by police.

A preliminary investigation suggests Domico was eastbound when on Highway 26, when for an unknown reason, lost control and traveled across the westbound lanes. Her car went into a wooded area and crashed into several trees.

Domico was found by police with serious injuries and suffering from hypothermia. She was transported by LifeFlight helicopter to Oregon Health & Science University.

Investigators said an area resident heard a loud noise about 9:45 p.m. Saturday night and went outside to see if there had been a crash, but not finding one, returned home and didn't call 911.

Oregon State Police troopers from the Portland Area Command Office are continuing the investigation. There is no evidence alcohol or drugs were a contributing factor in the incident. Trooper Tyler Bechtel is the lead investigator.

Oregon State Police were assisted at the scene by the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, the Boring and Sandy fire departments, ODOT, AMR ambulance and LifeFlight.
